Beith’s Jemma Reekie set a new outdoor personal best as she edged out fellow Scot and training partner Laura Muir to win the 800m in Triveneto, Italy.
Reekie clocked 1:59.52 – her best time for an outdoor race - to win from Laura’s 1:59.54 in a photo finish.
The pair have spent the majority of lockdown training together and should have been competing at the Olympics in Tokyo which was postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a social media post after the meeting, the 22-year-old said she was “happy to get a sub two outdoors for the first time” but is “always wanting more”.
