ARDROSSAN starlet Billy Gilmour has been selected in Steve Clarke's 26-man Scotland squad for the upcoming European Championships.

The call-up is Gilmour's first to the senior squad, having featured for his country at various youth levels.

The tournament will be Scotland's first major appearance since 1998, and the Three Towns will be represented with Saltcoats' Clarke naming Ardrossan's Gilmour in his squad.

The 19-year-old has worked his way back in to Thomas Tuchel's plans at Chelsea.

A former Chelsea man himself, Clarke has three extra spaces in his squad as UEFA decided to increase squad sizes from 23 players to 26.

Injuries to midfielders such as Ryan Jack and Kenny McLean have paved the way for Gilmour to be included when Scotland take on Czech Republic, England and Croatia.
