Beith manager Bryan Young says his side were not ruthless enough in front of goal as they lost 1-0 to Rutherglen Glencairn at the weekend.

It was a late winner that settled the Premier Division match at the Hamish B. Allan Stadium.

From a Rutherglen corner, Michael Lone arrived in late to glance his header into the bottom left hand corner.

The away side then had a penalty given to them late into injury time when Ryan Docherty went down in the box.

However, the linesman overruled the referee’s decision and the penalty was chalked off as Beith fell to their fifth league defeat of the season.

Speaking to the Herald, Young said:”We just were not clinical enough.

“We can make excuses and can say whatever we want to say about different scenarios and situations throughout the game.

“But, the decision making in the final third was just not quite there.

“It is ok to say that you controlled the game but it does not matter we lost 1-0.

“We defended very well and then we lose another goal from a set play.

“This season we have conceded four goals to Rutherglen Glencairn from four corners, which is not good enough.”
