Ardeer Thistle manager Sean Kenney says he was thrilled to get back to winning ways as his side beat Carluke Rovers 4-1 at the weekend.

Going into the match at Ardeer Stadium the hosts were winless in their past five West of Scotland Football League Conference B matches.

However, they convincingly ended their poor run of form on Saturday with a big win thanks to goals from David Gray, Robert Frew and a double for Ryan Wilson.

Speaking to the Herald, Kenney said: “In the games recently, we have played some really good teams and it has been a hard run.

“But it was just about getting back to the way we like to play and how we played at the start of the season.

“We have came away from that during the recent run but we emphasised it during the week at training and before the game.

“So, it was really good to see the players incorporate it back into our game and I think we looked far better for it.”

Next up for Thistle is an away day to face Newmains United this weekend, with Kenny insisting they won’t be underestimating the struggling side.

He said:”We know that we do not just show up and beat anybody.

“We have got to outwork every team as we are not a team of top quality players like Cambuslang or St Cadoc’s that can have an off day.

“If we want to beat anybody we need to have a good day.”
