Beith Juniors manager Bryan Young says he was ‘devastated’ to lose a late goal as his side lost 1-0 to Pollok.

The only goal of the game came at the end of the second half at Bellsdale Park during the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division match.

A cross across goal found the waiting Ryan McGregor who tapped in at the back post to seal the three points for the visitors and see the Cabes end the year on defeat.

Speaking to the Herald, Young said: “I think that is what happens when you play the top sides, there are fine margins in the game.

“I have played in many games like that when there is nothing in it between the two teams but that one little difference.

“It is either a mistake, or a bit of clinicalness or a bit of luck or whatever but you kind of need it to go your way.

“I felt as if it went Pollok’s way on the day to be honest, there was nothing between the two teams.

“We worked hard and I was happy with the general performance but gutted by the final outcome.

“To concede in the 87th minute, we just did not deserve it to be honest but at the end of the day that is what happened.

“I am not wanting to make excuses for that but in the same breath I was absolutely devastated at the time.

“It came from individual mistakes and that is probably reflected in the reason why we are were we are in the league.”
