North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club (NAIHC) saw their youth sides the North Ayrshire Stars (U14s) and the North Ayrshire Predators (U16s) both pick up wins at the weekend.

The two sides travelled to the Galleon Leisure Centre in Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon looking to start the New Year off with a win.

First up on the ice were the Stars who faced off against Kilmarnock Junior Ice Hockey Club at 2:15pm.

It was the away side that struck first in the match, via a great shot from the blue line by Rocco Murray.

Killie bounced back to get an equaliser, before taking the lead in a quick turnaround.

However, the Stars quickly recovered to bag an leveller thanks to a strike from Lennon Deeney, as the first period ended 2-2.

In the second period the Stars regained their lead after another finish from Deeney.

The third period was end to end and with Killie pushing for the equaliser, however the Stars brave defending kept them at bay as they held on for a 3-2 win.

Next to take to the ice were the Predators as they also faced off against a Kilmarnock side.

It was once again a fast paced start for NAIHC as captain Flynn Massie scored after just 28 seconds to put the away side ahead.

However, the hosts did not stay behind for too long, equalising just two minutes later before the Predators regained their lead through Massie.

Killie once again pegged them back as both sides went all out in the opening stages.

The Predators did go into the break 3-2 ahead however with Jacob Woods ending the scoring in the first period.

The second period started quickly with Massie scoring after 10 seconds to complete his hat-trick.

The hosts once again rallied to equalise though as the period ended 4-4.

In the third period, Massie once again opened the scoring to put the Predators ahead before Killie yet again grabbed an equaliser.

But the game was to go to the Predators, as Deeney stepped up to score te winner four minutes from time to give the away side a dramatic 6-5 away win in a hugely entertaining and end to end affair.
