Beith Juniors manager Bryan Young praised his side for a relentless showing as they beat Hurlford United 2-0 at the weekend.

The Cabes travelled to Blair Park looking for their first win of the year and got off to the best possible start by taking the lead early on in the first half.

Jay McKay played in Kenny McLean, with the striker sliding in to put the Mighty ahead at the break in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division clash.

In the second half, the away side doubled their lead with minutes to go in Hurlford.

Del Hepburn’s spectacular lob over the Ford goalie sealing the three points and getting Beith back to winning ways.

Speaking to the Herald, Young said: “I am absolutely delighted with the manner that we won and the way we went about our business.

“We were relentless, hit them again and again, winning second balls and everything I asked the players to do.”

On the defensive side Young singled out young defender Danny O’Neill for particular praise for his mature performance.

He said: “O’Neill was unbelievable to be honest with you, he played in the middle and controlled it for such a young player.

“He dictated the tempo for how we played and took one in the face at one point for the team.

“It was just such a mature performance for such a young player and he has been sensational for us.”
