Beith manager Bryan Young applauded Danny O’Neill for another fine defensive performance as the Cabes drew 0-0 with Kilbirnie Ladeside.

The Mighty may not have picked up the win in the derby match but they did secure another clean sheet at Valefield Park in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division clash.

It was their second successive shut out with 21-year old defender O’Neill a key figure in both games.

Speaking to the Herald, Young said: “O’Neill was absolutely outstanding again this week.

“The consistency levels from him are amazing at the moment.

“So, I am really pleased with that.”

Next up for Beith is another league match this evening as they take on Darvel at Recreation Park.

The Vale have had an almost three week lay off due to postponements but Young insists their lack of game time is not a hinder or a help to his side.

He said: “We were speaking about it after the game, will Darvel be fresh or whether they will be bit rusty from not playing.

“It is still to be seen but we can only worry about ourselves and we will train right in the run up to it.

“We are looking forward to it and we will be sitting ready for it.

“Paul Frize was suspended at the weekend after his red card against Rossvale.

“So, now he has served his ban we will get him back tonight which is a bonus.”
