Kilbirnie Ladeside co-manager Thomas Molloy admitted his side were beaten by a better team after they lost 3-1 to Pollok at the weekend.

The Blasties went with it all to do for their trip to Newlandsfield against a Lok side sitting top of the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division table.

Stuart McCann opened the scoring midway through the first half for the hosts via a header.

Adam Forde then doubled the Lok’s advantage on the stroke of half time to give them a 2-0 lead at the break.

In the second half, Kilbirnie grabbed a goal back via Alan Frizzell to give them a lifeline.

However, the hosts sealed the win late on through sub Gary McCann’s powerful finish.

The Blasties now sit 17th in the table and three points from safety.

Speaking to the Herald, Molloy said: “We need to be realistic at times and they had more quality than us.

“Which they are going to have being a club that size and where they are in the league.

“We just need to put our hands up sometimes and say the better team won.”

“It was not as if we did not give it a good go but sometimes quality takes over when both teams are going at it.”
