Kilbirnie Ladeside co-manager Thomas Molloy says his side have ‘five cup finals’ coming up as they try and avoid relegation.

The Blasties were in action in West of Scotland Football League Premier Division duty at the weekend as they faced off against Irvine Meadow.

The only goal of the game came in the second half at Meadow Park, Dylan Henry turning in a rebound to give Kilbirnie a crucial three points.

The Blasties now sit 15th in the Premier Division table and are level on points with Rossvale, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and Glenafton Athletic in the relegation battle, with all the sides sitting on 34 points and only separated by goal difference.

There could be six or seven teams relegated from the top flight this campaign depending on whether the league winners win the lower pyramid play-offs.

The Blasties will be keen to not let their chance of survival be reliant on anyone else so will want to finish as high up the table as possible to avoid getting caught in any last minute drama.

Kilbirnie have five games left to avoid the drop, starting off with the visit of Darvel to Valefield Park this weekend.

Speaking to the Herald, Molloy said:”We have probably been written off by everybody and we are down to the last five games now.

“It is basically five cup finals and we believe we can still stay in the league but we know it is going to take some effort to do that.”
