AN AYRSHIRE ice hockey star has been showing what she can do at the highest level.

Emma Lamberton, 15, who is a member at North Ayrshire Ice Hockey Club, played for Great Britain (GB) under-16 women’s ice hockey team last weekend.

Emma has only ever played with North Ayrshire since taking up the sport - having first attended a game aged just three.

Coming through all the age levels at North Ayrshire of ‘Learn to Play’, she regularly contributes at these sessions now and has inspired, as well as encouraged more girls into the club.

Looking at her time with the GB team, Emma certainly learned a lot from her time on the ice.

The girls team faced off against Norway over the course of three days. GB lost in each of the three matches - but with visible improvements across the weekend, head coach Nicci Wardell was still pleased.

She said: “The girls continued to impress us all today, their commitment to continually improving themselves as a team has been really pleasing to see.”
