Speed skaters from Ayrshire had plenty to celebrate following the recent British Championships.

Seven members of the Ayrshire Flyers Speed Skating Club travelled to the event, which took place in Nottingham at the beginning of this year.

Six short track speed skating clubs participated in the competition, with Ayrshire Flyers being the only team from Scotland.

The team, coached by former Olympian and British Team coach Archie Marshall, returned north with plenty of medals after three members claimed podium places in the competition.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald:

It was a fantastic event for Chloe, of the Ayrshire Flyers, who came home with first-place medals from the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m races in the junior ladies category.

Her success across these events also saw the youngster win first place overall for the junior ladies.

The club earned another gold medal thanks to Isla, who achieved first place in the junior D Girls category.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald:

Logan also found himself on the podium after an impressive showing saw him claim second place for the junior E boys.

An Ayrshire Flyers spokesperson said: "Well done to Ayrshire Flyers Shorttrack Speed Skating Club for yet another hugely successful British Championships.

"The club is based in Auchenharvie Ice Rink in Stevenson with a history of more than 20 years of success!

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald:

"The club warmly welcomes skaters of all abilities and ages from primary one upwards. The first introductory club lesson is free!"
