The newest youth football team in the Three Towns have got off to a great start, winning two trophies at a tournament in England.

Bossa United (which stands for Boys of Saltcoats, Stevenston and Ardrossan) travelled to Flamingoland in Yorkshire for a tournament and came back with two cups.

The under 9s boys club were formerly Ardrossan Winton Rovers U15s, and went their own way last December.

Billy Ramsay frmom the new club said: "We have 30 boys in our set up and run with three teams. We play out of the Whitlees Centre in Ardrossan, who are also a sponsor on our away kits.

"Before we changed over clubs, we already had a tournament booked for Flamingo Land for two teams to go down to. The boys absolutely smashed it down south and came home with two cups.

Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald: Bossa United

"For us as coaches, it means a lot to us seeing the progression in this side moving forward. It puts a big smile on your face.

"We’ve had the luxury or facing sides like Celtic, St Johnstone, Greenock Morton, Ayr United and Hamilton. I feel this club has risen up so quickly and it’s all thanks to the coaches, parents, kids and the community as a whole."

In the short space of time since the club was formed, they have already received support from seven sponsors and set up a partnership with Tekkers Soccer Academy.

Their sponsors include Ramsay Joinery for home and away kits, Freeline Design, also for home kits, Amanda’s Barbers in Wheatley Road in Saltcoats for tracksuits, DH Decor for jackets and Harlen's takeaway in Stevenston for bags.

The Kandy Bar in Saltcoats have provided sponsorship for equipment.

Billy added: "We held a bingo night and have now raised funds from that for training kits for the kids."

Congratulations to the club on their victories - and here's to the next trophy.
