A PHARMACY was reportedly targeted by thieves during the early hours of this morning (Tuesday), sparking a police appeal for information.

Officers in Ayrshire say a quantity of medication was stolen from the premises in Beith following the break-in at around 5am on May 24.

Police attended the Eglinton Street store after being alerted to the incident and officers are now hoping the public can assist with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Ross Keenan, of Saltcoats CID, said: “Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we are checking all available CCTV to trace those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who has information or who may live in the area and heard or saw anything suspicious to contact police immediately.

“Likewise, if anyone was in the area and has dash-cam footage, CCTV or doorbell cameras I would encourage you to check your footage for anything of relevance.

“The medication stolen could pose a health risk to anyone who ingests it without prior medical approval from their doctor. I would strongly advise members of the public to only take medication if it has been prescribed by their doctor and administered by a pharmacist.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0379 of May 24, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
