A POPULAR Beith takeaway which shut up shop for the last time last month has been given a new lease of life.

Shirley’s Takeaway on Eglinton Street closed its doors on September 2, citing a “change in personal circumstances” for having to give up the business.

It left many locals devastated, with one Beith woman saying: “So, so sorry for you having to close your doors, we will sadly miss you and all the girls as your staff and yourself were amazing, and your food was 100 per cent. I wish this was not happening, so, so gutted.”

They haven’t been kept down for too long, however, with the business now open once again, under new ownership.

Less than two weeks after the previous owners had to move on, they announced that someone else had taken on the takeaway. It opened up under this new regime for the first time last Tuesday, September 20.

The menu appears to still be a people pleaser, with a little bit of everything: from all day breakfasts, to paninis, burgers, chips, main courses and some homemade classics.

They still offer both collection and delivery, and those who have tried their food so far have described it as “delicious”.
