SALTCOATS businesses have rallied round to support a local hair and beauty salon after it was broken into last week.

Eden Hair Beauty Aesthetics in Windmill Street was trashed on Thursday night (October 6), with owner Lisa McNulty discovering a smashed front window on Friday morning and equipment stolen from inside the premises.

Pictures shared over the weekend show the extent of the damage caused, with glass strewn across the floor, cupboards ransacked and the till opened.

Police have confirmed that enquiries into the break-in are "at an early stage and ongoing".

After the initial shock of the incident, Lisa said she has been comforted by the offers of help since.

She said: "I'm gutted that the salon has been broken into and trashed.

"We've lost a lot of our equipment not to mention the interruption to our business and trading due to the loss and mess.

"Despite the setback, we'll be back beautifying you all soon."

And the salon re-opened for business this week - with support from other businesses in no short supply.

Lisa added: "I just want to say a massive heartfelt 'thank you' to the following lovely girls: Jacqui at Samm Hair, Vicky Bryce at Abundance and Alison Lennox Dow at The Beauty Boutique, for offering my team space to work and equipment to borrow to help us get back trading.

"It's so nice to see everyone come together at a time like this and work as a community to help one another out.

"I've really appreciated everyone's offers of help, support and revenge (lol) during this wee drama.

"I also want to thank Kevin Rafferty for offering his services free of charge and to Johnny Stacey Tulloch for offering to be a handyman.

"And Craig Murphy for securing my premises and always being on speed dial to help me out.

"You guys are the best."

On a more positive note, Lisa will be hosting a charity fund-raising event at the Seamill Hydro on Friday, November 18 for Alzheimer Scotland's Ardrossan branch.

The event will be a roaring 1920s Great Gatsby-themed fund-raiser and it is hoped that it will help raise awareness as well as vital money for the excellent service the charity selflessly provides to families and individuals struggling with dementia.

More on the event in an upcoming edition of the Herald.
