A MAN has been taken to hospital following an alleged serious assault in Ardrossan.

Police were called to Winton Street at around 10.15pm on Friday, November 25. It is the second report of a serious assault on the street within a fortnight.

Earlier this month the Herald reported that part of Winton Street was taped off after police were called to reports of a serious assault on Tuesday, November 15.

On that occasion, a man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

Only 10 days later the Herald was told that the street had once again been cordoned off, while several police vehicles were in attendance.

Police confirmed that a 43-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock and later released after being treated for his injuries.

There has been no suggestion by police that the two incidents are linked.

Though detectives are now looking for witnesses of the most recent incident to come forward and assist with their investigation.

Detective Constable Lorna Kerr said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who has dash-cam footage of the area at the time, to contact police.

“Please call Saltcoats CID via 101, quoting reference 3856 of November 25, 2022.  Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
